Civil War Program: Thank you, Scott Young!
Galway Preservation Society members and guests enjoyed an interesting and informative talk by Scott Young in October 2024. Scott is a local Galway Village resident who has a wealth of information about the Civil War. He shared names of local men who went off to that war and some of the challenges they faced.
The November 4, 2024 program, which begins at 7:00 p.m., will be about the American Revolution, presented by Rick Reynolds. Please join us. Also remember, our meetings are open to the public, so feel free to bring guests along.
Did you know?
While some of you long term members have attended our meetings each month, you may not know what the Preservation Society is all about. Let me tell you by way of our Statement of Purpose:
The Galway Preservation Society’s mission is to promote, foster awareness of and practice the preservation of Galway’s historical heritage, architecture, artifacts and all such memorabilia that relate to Galway, past, present, and future, all to be documented in the archives of the Society as a means of establishing a sound reference source for future generations.
To carry out this mission, we have four committees, each of which has a different purpose.
The Program Committee schedules programs for each of our meetings from September through June. We strive to have topics about history, not necessarily only about Galway but our area, New York State and beyond.
