Join us at a monthly meeting if you are interested in learning more about our area and preserving Galway’s past for future generations.
Meet neighbors, become involved with the community, and enjoy fresh home-baked treats each month! You do not need to be a member to attend the meetings, which begin at 7:00pm. Guests are always welcome to attend.
We meet at the Galway Town Hall (see map), usually on the first Monday of each month. September’s meeting is the 2nd Monday because of Labor Day, November will be the 2nd Monday because of Election Day, January may be the 2nd Monday because of New Year’s holiday and in June a members’ picnic. No meetings are held in July or August. See the Calendar for verification of date.
Program presentations range from group discussions or panels by members, to speakers on local history or broader areas of interest relating to preservation. Look for our bright orange fliers around town announcing each month’s topic.
All members receive the GPS newsletter the months we meet. The newsletter includes short historical pieces, meeting highlights, and lists of upcoming events. You may choose to receive the newsletter in the mail or by email.
To join or to renew your membership simply use the link below to print the membership form and mail it in. We will gladly add you to our mailing list and welcome you at the monthly meetings! Membership is $10 per household.
The Galway Preservation Society has extensive archives related to Galway history. Our members enjoy opportunities for community involvement, including maintenance of the Galway Village flower barrels, participation in the Memorial Day parade, and more.
The Galway Preservation Society also maintains the display cases in the lobby of Galway Town Hall, with various exhibits throughout the year.
